ACI-ORP: together for the integrated promotion of religious tourism

The Automobile Club of Italy and the Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at the synergy for the promotion and enhancement of tourist resources and places of Christian devotion on the Italian territory

Central elements of the agreement, which will last three years, signed by the president of ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani and by the CEO of ORP, Don Remo Chiavarini, are: to foster the integrated promotion of the offer relating to religious tourism through research and the dissemination of religious itineraries and pilgrimages of faith, throughout the national territory, which are able to reconcile the needs of pilgrims and tourists with those of safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility.

The two bodies, then, intend to identify new models and strategies that make it possible to strengthen the bond with the territory, also in social and cultural terms, through the experimentation of new forms of communication and dissemination of knowledge and experiences within the social fabric. to facilitate the dissemination of alternative itineraries and promote sustainable tourism development in environmental, cultural, economic and social terms.

Since its inception in 1905, ACI has followed and supported the evolution of the automotive phenomenon in Italy. With over one million members, it is today the largest free association of citizens in our country, of which it proposes itself as a representative and spokesperson for national and international institutions on the issues of mobility, tourism and the environment. It promotes car sporting events and spreads car culture in line with the principles of environmental protection and the development of sustainable mobility, road safety and the enhancement of the territory.

ACI is a body recognized by CONI and the FIA ​​- International Automobile Federation, of which it is a founding member, as the only national authority in Italy for motor sport and, in this institutional capacity, promotes and organizes motor sport activities and events Furthermore, it promotes study and research activities on mobility, also with the aim of spreading and consolidating a deeper environmental awareness and ethics, through the creation of innovative solutions and services for circulation, respecting the territory and the environment. .

Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi – an institutional activity of the Vicariate of Rome, an organ of the Holy See – has a consolidated experience in organizing pilgrimages to all the Sanctuaries and places of religious, cultural and economic interest and in welcoming and assisting those who arrive in Rome. like tourists and pilgrims.

ORP often collaborates with public and private / Italian and foreign bodies and institutions, to support them in the definition and implementation of projects that respond both to the specific needs of religious tourism and pilgrimages, and to the enhancement of the artistic / historical / cultural heritage.
