Inteva Products, a leading global Tier One automotive supplier of engineered components and systems, has been chosen for the Automotive Innovation Award for sustainability by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE). The award is for the company’s Inteather Eco Trim material, which is in use on Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
“This award demonstrates that Inteva’s innovations help to drive our sustainability efforts and set us apart in the industry,” said Marco vom Wege, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. “Being able to provide our customers with a recyclable option that delivers the performance needed for such a high-volume application balances environmental responsibility and cost effectiveness.”
The Inteather Eco Trim material, which uses a patented recycling process to recover scrap thermoplastic bi-laminate material that can be recycled into the production of new parts, is used to produce interior trim pieces on both vehicles.
As a result of the reycling, CO2 emissions and energy usage decrease by 48 percent while eliminating 93 percent of scrap that would otherwise be sent to landfills.
“This recognition goes beyond just our products,” said Gerard Roose, President and CEO. “We’re proud to be good stewards of the environment, working together with our customers to ensure a better future.”
