New Delhi: Supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive on Thursday opened its first dealership in India and unveiled the new 765LT Spider. The showroom is represented by Infinity Cars in Mumbai and also has a service centre operated by the company’s engineers.

According to the automaker, the supercar offers 765 PS power and 800 Nm of torque. It takes 11 seconds to open and stow the ultra-lightweight single piece electric retractable hard top. The supercar manufacturer will offer models including the Everyday McLaren GT.

The company plans to introduce its recently launched hybrid supercar Artera in the Indian market in Q1 of CY23, a senior executive of the company told ETAuto.

“The APAC region contributes about 35% to McLaren’s global volumes,” said Paul Harris, Managing Director, APAC and China, McLaren Automotive. He also said that the calendar year 2023 will be a buyoant year for the carmaker in India. The company would offer the full breath of its model range to the customers and enthusiasts in the country.

All the models are designed at the McLaren Technology Centre where each supercar is hand-built at the adjoining McLaren Production Centre, in Woking, Surrey, south of London.

The core supercar range also includes the 720S in Coupe and Spider variants, along with the 765LT Coupe and Spider as the latest addition to the legendary LT product family, it said.

Lalit Choudary, Chairman and Managing Director, McLaren Mumbai, said, “We are confident that we can deliver McLaren’s engineering excellence with a customer-centric proposition to ensure that we continue to exceed the expectations of our discerning clientele.”

We did a pre-launch and already have customers in Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune and other cities, who are using the cars for the past few months, he said.

McLaren Automotive was launched in 2010 and is now the largest part of the McLaren Group. The company’s product portfolio of GT, supercar, Motorsport and Ultimate models are retailed through over 100 retailers in over 40 markets around the world.
