SK On and SK Signet will develop a battery diagnosis service using an EV charger.
On the 24th, SK On exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SK Signet to ‘promote battery diagnosis service business based on electric vehicle chargers’ at SK Signet’s headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. With this MOU, a battery diagnosis service will provide the remaining battery life and charge level while charging an EV will be introduced next year.
The battery condition is measured in real time through SK On battery remaining life analysis technology while an EV user charges the vehicle with the SK Signet charger. The time that takes to diagnose is 30 minutes based on a 50kW charger. Users can check the status with a charger and/or an app developed by SK Signet. The product will be unveiled at CES 2023, the world’s largest consumer electronics exhibition.
Business development manager of SK On Kyung-min Lee said, “We have been working hard to spread battery diagnostic services and improve the level of diagnostic technology. Cooperating with various companies, we will grow diagnostic service infrastructure in the future.”
