This year marks the 60th anniversary of Morgan’s class win at Le Mans in 1962, where it took top spot in the 2.0-litre class. To celebrate the occasion, the British marque has released a new special-edition version of its Plus Four. Called the LM62, it receives numerous design touches inspired by the Le Mans-winning car, and is limited to just 62 units.
The LM62’s paint options are inspired by the 1962 racer, which was finished in dark green and red. The special edition can be ordered in Jet Green or Morgan Tertre Rouge, and gets a Heritage White hardtop roof – a first for the Plus Four, and just like the original. Buyers can also specify an LM62 graphics pack, which adds roundels with the original car’s ’29’ race number, silver wire wheels, a Le Mans-style fuel filler cap and a domed rear panel. A rear LM62 badge also features.
Elsewhere, the limited-run model receives a set of spotlights, a polished stone guard and a side screen bag stitched with the LM62 logo. The splitter and grille mesh have been painted black, too, along with the tailpipes of the active sports exhaust system.
The LM62 gets more nostalgic touches inside, with wood trim on the dashboard and transmission tunnel. The floor mats are lacquered black rubber items, and the headrests are embroidered with LM62 emblems. Unique black leather door pulls also feature inside, while the heated Comfort Plus seats are also trimmed in black leather, with perforated seat centres and horizontal pleating. A painted steering wheel centre and an LM62 chassis plaque mark out the limited edition car.
Morgan also offers numerous personalisation options for the buyer to choose from, such as a soft-top roof and the LM62 accessory pack, which brings two-eared wheel spinners, headlight tape, a chrome rearview mirror and a Mota-Lita steering wheel. A photo diary of the car’s build can also be ordered.
The LM62 is based on the existing Plus Four, and is powered by a BMW-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It produces 255bhp and 350Nm of torque, and the LM62 is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic unit. The LM62 is on sale now, priced from £78,995.
