Tesla wants to expand its customer base in the midst of the investigations into its assistance system.
Recently it became known that the assistance system from Tesla of the authorities is examined. The system called “Full Selfdriving” does not live up to its name. It is a level 2 system and autonomous driving has five levels. In the meantime, large parts of the industry have distanced themselves from the word “Self driving” farewell. It even becomes one Law initiated, which specifically targets Tesla. Eventually there were a few deaths because of the system. A customer even has one class action launched against Tesla for misleading advertising.
In the midst of this problem, Tesla released its FSD assistance system for a larger group of customers. Elon Musk tweeted that he would open the system as a Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta and make it available to anyone in North America. The condition is, of course, that the option has been purchased and activated from the car.
Previously, people who did not seem capable due to their driving style were exempt from this. Tesla had developed a metric to determine the insurance rate. If you didn’t do well in it, you couldn’t unlock the system.
Musk had repeatedly assured for years that autonomous driving was coming. According to his statements, he wanted to have autonomous driving in the drawer years ago. But cars are still a long way from being able to drive themselves. At last he wanted 2020 launch a fleet of robot taxis.
There is speculation as to whether the expansion of the customer base will serve to increase revenue. In Europe, due to stricter regulation, they are not that far along, says Musk.
