The CEO of the car manufacturer VW, Oliver Blume, is preparing a reorganization of the company architecture. The core should be a new software strategy that should keep the group fit for the future. Blume wants to present key points of the strategy on December 15 at a supervisory board meeting, the Handelsblatt learned from corporate circles.
Blume replaced Herbert Diess at the top of VW at the beginning of September. He had to go because, among other things, he couldn’t get the group’s software problems sorted out. Accordingly, Blume knows about the fall height of the subject. The top priority for him now is the reorganization of future projects.
In mid-November, Blume had already canceled the “Trinity” project for the time being. With the model originally planned for 2026, new car software was to be introduced for the group. Instead, Blume is now preparing VW to keep the existing software competitive until the end of the decade. According to Handelsblatt information, that alone costs significantly more than one billion euros. VW did not comment on this.
