State to get India’s 1st hydrogen-powered vehicle project: CM

Chief minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday said there will be a huge investment in the state for making hydrogen-powered vehicles, and positive discussions have been held with the America-based Triton Electric Vehicles (EV) company to start this project. Himanshu Patel, founder and CEO of America’s Triton EV, on Thursday met CM Shinde at his ‘Varsha’ residence. Industries Minister Uday Samant was also present.

Shinde said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed in this regard in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos in January 2023, and all the necessary facilities will be provided to this company to start an industry in Maharashtra. CM Shinde said Maharashtra will be the first state in the country to start such a project for hydrogen vehicles. .

Officials said Triton EV is working in the field of electric vehicles as well as hydrogen vehicles.

“Triton has taken the initiative to start a hydrogen project and manufacturing center of hydrogen-powered vehicles in Maharashtra, and for this Patel and CM Shinde had a detailed discussion. Hydrogen vehicles are more economical to use than EVs, safer and also cheaper than CNG and EVs. Hydrogen vehicles are being used in countries like England, Germany, China, America; in Maharashtra it will be possible to run government buses on hydrogen.

“If Triton starts the hydrogen vehicle project in the state, hydrogen manufacturing projects and other industries required for these projects will also start in Maharashtra, resulting in increased investment and thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities. Triton will sign an MoU with Maharashtra in Davos in January 2023 and various options like Pune, Auric (Aurangabad) and Nagpur are available for this company to start the industry,” a statement from the CM’s office said. CM said the Nagpur-Mumbai Prosperity Highway, being inaugurated by the PM Narendra Modi on December 11, will also benefit several industries in the state.
