The Kempten University of Applied Sciences will receive a research vehicle for autonomous driving with mobile phone technology.
The vehicle with the name “SymonE” was sponsored by the company Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) from Kaufbeuren. Specifically, it received the Institute for Driving Assistance and Networks Mobility at the HS Kempten. The institute deals with autonomous driving and also with the HMI (Human Machine Interface). The STW company is also located in this area.
STW supports the company to advance basic research, from which one also benefits. The vehicle was used as a demonstration vehicle. Such are already sensors and controls installed. It is also an electric vehicle and is connected via 5G cellular technology. In the meantime, a new model has been made.
The vehicle, which resembles a tractor and helps with off-road, work and construction site projects, should also lead to research in Kempten and the company in Kaufbeuren working more closely together. This applies to lectures, projects, but also dual training.
