Brandenburg is testing autonomous buses

In the Brandenburg districts of Potsdam-Mittelmark and Oder-Spree, autonomous buses will be used in local public transport in the future.

There are already a few corners in Berlin where autonomous driving is being tested. The hotspots are in the June 17 Street and for example on Tegel lake. A new project is now being initiated in the suburbs of Berlin, in Brandenburg. Although there are already similar projects in Wusterhausen or Potsdam gave.

The project will take place in the districts of Potsdam-Mittelmark (PM) and Oder-Spree (LOS) in the south of Berlin. The two districts, in cooperation with the Vorpommern-RĂ¼gen district (Mecklenburg-West Pomerania), have submitted a corresponding application for funding. This is how autonomous electric buses are to be used in public transport.

The project, which is to be implemented in the coming year, examines the use of the vehicles in rural area in relation to the outskirts. Unlike other projects, this project should then become regular operation. In addition to the feasibility, it is also about the benefits in the face of climate change and the trust into technology.

The project should have a role model effect for Germany.
