The automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler relies on hydrogen for its future energy supply and wants to build its own plant together with a partner on the factory premises in Herzogenaurach. Schaeffler announced on Friday that the company had signed a corresponding declaration of intent with the French hydrogen producer Lhyfe.
Lhyfe will set up an electrolyser system with a capacity of up to 15 megawatts, which will be able to supply the Schaeffler plant and other regional customers with 3.7 tons of green hydrogen per day from 2025. The waste heat from the plant is to be used to supply heat to the site.
