Cruise vehicles in the US are scheduled to undergo an NHTSA inspection. There are reports of misconduct.
The startup Cruise tests and researches autonomous driving for the car company General Motors. Cruise is mainly on the road in San Francisco, but recently announced expansion plans on. In addition, one runs recently also on days.
It has now been revealed that the NHTSA has scheduled an investigation into Cruise’s vehicles. Most recently, the vehicles from Tesla because misleading advertising scrutinized. The formal safety investigation at Cruise also focuses on the autonomous driving system.
Because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that there were reports of vehicles suddenly braking and sometimes not moving at all. The NHTSA believes the unexpected braking and stopping of the cars are due to different reasons. In both cases, however, this could pose a risk to road safety. Should the assessment come to the conclusion, a recall of the 242 vehicles would have to be ordered.
Earlier there were some strange behaviors of the vehicles. So they gathered on one road or a car drove one police control from that. Besides, there was one whistleblower, which warned against the operation of the vehicles. There are now new reports that there have been three accidents involving cruise vehicles. The car braked so hard that the rear car crashed into it.
Cruise refers to the approximately 700,000 autonomous miles that have been covered. They drove through urban areas without serious injuries or deaths. But we will work with the authorities. On accident in September resulted in two minor injuries.
