IDX-listed Telkom Indonesia plans to build a hyperscale data centre (HDC) in the Batam province with an investment of $192.6 million. Meanwhile, Singlife with Aviva has launched Singlife Connect, an accelerator programme to support promising insurtech startups.
Telkom to build a new hyperscale data centre
IDX-listed PT Telkom Indonesia, through its unit NeutraDC, will build a hyperscale data centre (HDC) in Indonesia’s Batam province with an investment of 3 trillion rupiah ($192.6 million), according to a statement on Thursday. The total capacity of the data centre is 51 megawatt (MW). The first phase will have a capacity of 17 MW and will be finalised in the second quarter of 2024.
Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel), via its unit ST Dynamo Holdings, and IDX-listed energy firm PT Medco Power Indonesia are also shareholders of NeutraDC and will also be part of the HDC project. Telkom is the majority shareholder with ownership of 60%, Singtel 35%, and Medco Power 5%, local media reported.
The facility will be the second largest HDC of Telkom after the one in Cikarang, which has a total capacity 75 MW. Apart from that, Telkom has 27 data centres, which include five global data centres, three enterprise data centres, and 19 neuCentrIX (data and cloud centre).
Singlife and Aviva launches accelerator programme
Singapore financial services firm Singlife and Aviva has launched Singlife Connect, an accelerator programme to support insurtech startups.
Singlife and Aviva was formed by the merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife in September 2020.
Singlife Connect will develop market solutions to innovate and transform insurance distribution. Singlife will leverage its expertise to provide opportunities for insurtech-specific technical integration to create growth opportunities for the insurtech ecosystem.
The programme will initially support up to eight early-stage insurtech startups. Successful applicants will gain access to Singlife’s suite of products and insurance verticals and personalised mentorship to enable quicker customer discovery.
