SKC will reveal semiconductor, secondary battery, and eco-friendly materials at ‘CES 2023’, the world’s biggest IT and consumer electronics trade show held in the new year at Las Vegas, USA.
SKC will operate a SK Exhibition Pavilion with 7 affiliates in the SK group. They will be showcasing new materials like semiconductor glass substrates for high-performance computers, copper foil and silicon cathode materials, and eco-friendly plastics.
Semiconductor glass substrates are a next-generation material that is drawing attention from the field of semiconductor packaging. SKC began the construction of the class substrate mass-production plant last month in their investor, Absolics, and is the promoting the world’s first commercialization of the product. This is the first time they are revealing their semiconductor glass substrates.
They will also display copper foils for batteries. SK Nexilis, an investor of SK, succeeded in mass-producing the widest (1.4m), longest (7km) 4㎛ ultra-thin copper foil. The silicon cathode material is being revealed ahead of the start of the factory construction next year. Silicon cathodes can improve battery performance, improving the charging speed of secondary batteries and extending the driving distance. They will also display eco-friendly materials like PBAT and LIMEX. SKC’s waste plastic resource recovery solution, which turns plastic waste into pyrolysis resources, will also be showcased.
Yoona Na, the general manager of SKC SV (vice-president), said that, “We will show SKC’s identity as a ‘global ESG material solution’ company and our will to achieve ‘2040 greenhouse gas net zero’.”
