The car of the future from BMW changes its exterior color as well as its front optics and manages almost entirely without visible buttons, control panels and displays. All important information for the driver is projected onto the windscreen in the “BMW i Vision Dee”. It acts as a giant screen for speedometer, navigation, music selection and text messages. In the parking position, an avatar greets you from the side window.
The concept vehicle is an eye-catcher at the CES technology fair, which takes place this week in Las Vegas. BMW wants to show what a fully digitized mid-range sedan could look like in the future. Not everything about the model is science fiction.
The expanded head-up display across the entire width of the windshield is to be used in next-generation production vehicles from 2025. With this so-called “New Class”, BMW wants to reverse the industry trend towards ever larger screens in the dashboard, which the group believes tends to pose a security risk.
