With a camouflaged prototype, VW gives another glimpse of the upcoming ID.7. The limousine, masked with bright camouflage paintwork, is now being shown at the electronics trade fair CES in Las Vegas, and the real premiere is scheduled for spring.
Visually, the electric sister model of the Passat remains true to the ID.Aero study presented last year. With short overhangs and a long wheelbase, it reveals itself as a child of the modular electrical construction kit (MEB), which also carries many of the group’s other electric models. The body is kept particularly flat and streamlined, which should benefit the long-distance suitability. VW announces a range of around 700 kilometers.

The North Germans emphasize improvements in the operating concept – one of the criticisms of the previous ID models. The air conditioning controls in the infotainment system are no longer hidden behind several menu layers, and the touch sliders that are still used are now illuminated for better visibility at night. The air conditioning works with intelligent nozzles that the driver recognizes and activates cooling or heating even before entering the vehicle.
The uncamouflaged production vehicle should be presented in April, the market launch is scheduled for the second half of the year. Like the compact SUV ID.4, the ID.7 is to be sold worldwide. In addition to the Passat, which will be built by Skoda in the future, he will compete against the Tesla Model 3, among others.
