A race among autonomous vehicles also took place as part of the CES in Las Vegas.
There is a robot car race at CES and the winner was chosen over the weekend. The Polimove team from the Politecnico di Milano University together with the University of Alabama took first place. The team from the Technical University of Munich took second place. The result is the same as in the last year was.
All participating teams receive the same vehicles in the race, only the software distinguishes the teams. Two vehicles start each race, because in addition to speed, overtaking is also important. The vehicle must do this independently. The teams reach speeds of over 250 kilometers per hour.
The multi-million dollar vehicles are sponsored. The sponsor, lidar manufacturer luminar, receives the sensor data of the races in return.
