GreenCell Mobility appoints Devndra Chawla as CEO

Mumbai: GreenCell Mobility (GreenCell), a leading pan-India shared electric mobility player, has appointed Devndra Chawla as the new CEO of the company. Chawla will lead the company’s objective of being the prime mover in building sustainable growth momentum in the shared e-mobility space. He will report to the board of GreenCell.

GreenCell Mobility is backed by Eversource Capital, the investment manager for India’s largest climate fund, Green Growth Equity Fund (GGEF).

Devndra Chawla, who has rich and varied experience of over 26 years, was until recently the MD and CEO of Spencer‘s Retail and Nature’s Basket. Prior to that, he was associated with Walmart India as EVP and COO and was CEO of Future Consumer Limited (FCL) and Group President of the Food, FMCG, and Brands Future Group. He also served as the CEO and Food and Business Head for private brands (the Future Group). Previously with Coca-Cola, he led various roles, including those of area operations director and director of customer service and route to market. He has also had a stint at Asian Paints as a regional branch manager.

Devndra Chawla received his Bachelor of Engineering in Production from Pune University. He holds an MBA degree from the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School via its Advanced Management Program.

GreenCell is implementing 1,500 e-buses in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh, of which more than 700 are operational across 23 cities.

According to the company, the Flow Form Technology involves the application of pressure to the inner barrel of the wheel while spinning and after it has been casted. This process stretches and compresses the aluminium, which increases the tensile strength.


Germany was the only major European market that saw growth last year, at 1.1 percent, while Italy registrations plunged 9.7 percent, France 7.8 percent and Spain 5.4 percent.
