Brad Templeton and his map of autonomous driving

The AutonoMap shows places where autonomous vehicles are available to the public.

This is the “AutonoMap” from Brad Templeton, a well-known software developer and author for science fiction, who has already dealt with autonomous driving. The map shows places where predominantly autonomous vehicles are driving on streets and sidewalks. Or there are routes on which people or freight are transported, sometimes without security personnel on board.

The colors indicate the test environments and the test types. Depending on the situation, there are also planned or test areas for autonomous driving. But delivery bots are also registered, which then mainly operate on the sidewalk. Only vehicles that are mainly without remote control get by

There are different levels in the map, one for robotaxis and one for delivery robots. Only autonomous delivery robots – including trucks from gatic – are in this layer. The Robotaxi level contains some planned projects or with security guards depending on the color. The many test projects are not part of the map.

Most projects are located in the USA or in China. Some companies in China refused to disclose their project locations. The map should be expanded.
