The head of the “Charging and Energy” division at Volkswagen, Elke Temme, is unexpectedly resigning from her duties with immediate effect.

In the middle of building up the business with charging stations and energy services, Volkswagen surprisingly has to replace the head of the important division. Elke Temme is resigning from her duties as head of the “Loading and Energy” department with immediate effect for private reasons, the group announced on Monday. She is taking a three-month sabbatical and will then be available to the company on a reduced basis until the end of the year.
Giovanni Palazzo, who has been responsible for the North American fast-charging network Electrify America since 2018, will become the new head of the division. He will also become chairman of Electrify America, effective February 15.
CTO Thomas Schmall, who is responsible for the charging and energy business, paid tribute to Temme’s achievements. You have made the area an important future pillar of the group. “We regret their withdrawal, but we support their decision with the utmost conviction,” he said.
