The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) is working on plans to set up and operate 10 electric vehicle charging stations across New Town on its own which will offer per charging units at an affordable rate comparatively less than the privately operated EV charging stations.

Officials said that presently there were already 30 e-vehicle charging points including those for charging electric buses, four wheelers, three wheelers and e-bikes run by Hidco and other private operators.

The EV charging stations have been set up in Rabindra Tirtha, near Tata Medical Centre, Nazrul Tirtha, Gates 1, 4 and 6 of Eco Park, near Café Ekante, Axis Mall, Eco Urban Village and Central Mall. Some of them are slow charging points while there are also fast charging stations with signage being put up at all the charging station locations.
