Following the recent launch of the limited-edition Praga Bohema hypercar and new 28-unit Praga ZS 800 motorcycle, Praga Cars UK has relocated from Cheshire to Dunsfold Park in Surrey, where its new client spec’ing facility and brand visitor centre will be located.
Within two hours of London’s international airports, the Aston Martin, McLaren and Rolls Royce factories, and with on-site neighbours including Gordon Murray Automotive and private members club Ledmore & Co, the new headquarters will be ideally placed to welcome customers and includes access to the world-famous BBC Top Gear test track.
An official opening event is planned for summer 2023, when Praga R1 driver and former Stig, Ben Collins, will attempt to set a new lap record of the Top Gear track in the lightweight, 700hp, road legal Praga Bohema. The current official Top Gear fastest lap time is 01:11.3 set by the Ferrari SF90 Stradale in 2020.
Ben Collins, the former BBC Top Gear Stig said; “When I drove the Praga Bohema pre-production model last year on old tyres it unlocked parts of Dunsfold in a completely new way for me. It felt like the fastest I’ve ever been round the Top Gear test track, and the car wasn’t even at full power. Once the Bohema is finished this summer, I think it’s time to return to Dunsfold with a stopwatch and send Stig Junior a little message.”
Mark Harrison, Managing Director, Praga Cars UK, said: “We held a small, but successful, media and prospect programme at Dunsfold late last year whilst securing UK homologation and it was obvious to us that it would be the ideal location to support Praga’s growth and expansion. Praga has accelerated into the luxury automotive market in recent weeks: from being a race car and go-kart manufacturer we have added a hypercar and ultra-rare motorbike to our portfolio in the space of three months. This has grown the company’s reputation significantly.
“Most of our customers are based abroad, and we rely on our test and engineering teams from Prague to support our activities in the UK, so location is vital to us and Dunsfold is perfect as our new global base. I am now looking forward to seeing what time The Stig can deliver on the test track with our 700hp, 982 kilo Bohema production car!”
