Drive to Success: On-Demand Retail Space without Driver’s Seat

With one simple tap on your phone, Moving Spaces is at your service. Then there will be a delight in a hot cup of joe, some crisp greens, and a bite or two of that delicious cupcake you’ve been eyeing.

In Shenzhen OCT PARK, PIX Moving’s self-driving Moving Cafe began a one-month trial operation on October 28, 2022.

This isn’t something out of a sci-fi novel; rather, it’s a glimpse into the near future, in the form of a new kind of mobile retailing that functions as city modules.

In April 2023, PIX Moving & AEON MALL Co-Creation Project will launch a new exploration in the retail sector with the PIX Moving Space as the mall’s pop-up shop.

We are excited to unveil Moving Space to the world as a fleet of moving retail spaces that will soon be brisk up urban retail facilities during the daytime.

Or… nightlife? And maybe as such across the globe.

In 2001: A Space Odyssey, Kubrick depicted the advent of an alien monolith becomes a sign of human evolution, by using a bone as a weapon, a spaceship journey to Jupiter for human’s future.

In the same way that the Internet was a “monolith” for humans twenty years ago, AI-driven everything seems to be another “monolith” for us into the future, where previously unimaginable dystopian or sci-fi apocalyptic scenarios are now being realized.

Online retail behemoths like Amazon and Walmart have expanded rapidly in recent years, capturing a larger and more profitable share of the market. As AI has emerged as a focal point, the retail sector must decide what it will do next.

From the Internet

According to a bold forecast by Forrester Research, a “future-fit” retailer will emerge victorious in the retail industry in 2023.

Forrester predicts that 75 per cent of all US retail sales will still take place in physical stores in 2023, so brick-and-mortar businesses will need to invest in new technologies like automation to make up for a lack of labour and create faster delivery services, while online businesses may want to consider dividing their efforts offline.

Brands are increasingly focusing on the brick-and-mortar retail sector, integrating mobile devices and cutting-edge technologies to boost sales and improve the customer experience. Technology companies like Intel and Google Cloud are helping out by facilitating enhanced customer service and personalized shopping experiences for customers at brick-and-mortar stores by:

Cloud services, which include data storage and processing power, help businesses expand rapidly without having to add new physical facilities.(Google Cloud)Custom automated inventory management and analytics system. Like Intel, its AI-powered solutions like Intel offers a suite of retail-specific services, including Intel Retail Image Recognition, which can be used to identify and track products in-store.Link the real-world items to the cloud. There will be easier remote monitoring and maintenance using technologies like Intel’s Edge AI platform and Google Cloud’s IoT Core.

2.2 Autonomous Driving for Last-mile Delivery

While this is the case, larger retail businesses are thinking way beyond that.

Amazon and Walmart are utilizing AI-driven autonomous driving technology to enhance their logistics transportation and delivery services.

As part of its efforts to expand its delivery fleet, Walmart has purchased 4,500 Canoo EVs for use in making last-mile deliveries in Arkansas, while Amazon has acquired Zoox. However, by venturing out onto public roads, it is clear that Zoox has bigger plans than just making deliveries; it is currently the market leader in the no-steer autonomous driving sector.

3. Aside from “cloud” and delivery, there is more “space” to explore

Pop-up shops and trucks, decked out in bright colours and hip furnishings, are a common way for major retail chains to test new strategies for attracting a younger customer base, specifically Gen-Z and possibly Gen Alpha. McDonald’s, decked out in its signature yellow, transformed into a coffee shop at the Shanghai Marathon, complete with a fleet of commercial coffee makers and a staff of baristas.

The future trend is the development of new space in the city, but the hardware and technical limitations of traditional cars are a major impediment to its development, and from an environmental perspective, they are less green and sustainable.

The reality is that new autonomous technology is gradually revealing a stylish urban aesthetic and eco-friendly concept. By deploying self-driving vehicles, we can rapidly construct environments that are malleable and transient to the needs of the moment.

Self-driving technology provides space mobility and is integrated into all aspects of life, resulting in numerous business and way-of-life modifications.

We welcome different brands to join PIX Moving to create a new mobile retail era for a smarter retail market based on autonomous vehicles.
