Since its official opening in June 2021, China FAW Group’s Hongqi Fanrong plant in Changchun, Jilin province, has been combining modern, intelligent and green manufacturing technology to create a series of high-quality products — such as Hongqi E-QM5 car — seizing the commanding heights of the new energy vehicle industry.
There are few workers in the plant, which is stocked with advanced intelligent manufacturing equipment and management systems. Integrated intelligent robots work methodically, and ultrasonic sensors carry out accurate inspections.
The plant has five workshops, including stamping, welding, painting, assembly and battery/electric drive, with an annual production capacity of 240,000 vehicles.
Its stamping line is 71.4 percent automated, and 600 intelligent robots on the welding line have taken automation of those tasks to 100 percent.
The plant was designed to be environmentally friendly to contribute to China’s strategic carbon emissions peak and carbon neutrality.
Focusing on the use of renewable energy, environmental protection technology applications and pollution treatment, the plant has achieved energy savings and carbon reduction throughout its production cycle.
