The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has issued tenders to go ahead with setting up fuel retail outlets as alternative non-fare revenue sources. Tenders have been issued for running fuel retail outlets at 24 locations.
BMTC has issued tender for Installation and Commissioning of Retail Fuel Outlets by Public/Private Sector undertaking oil companies on payment of monthly license fee and commission on sale of fuel and non fuel products in BMTC land.
BMTC intends to develop its land by setting up the outlets to generate commercial revenues for an agreement period of 15 Years from the date of signing of agreement, of which nine months will be the gestation period. They will be given six months to get an NOC and three months for erection/installation of fuel outlets.
The licence fee (land rent) will be enhanced by 5% every year over that of the previous year from the second year onwards. The selected bidder must operate the fuel station on COCO Model (Company Owned Company Operated).
The bidder cannot construct, remove or modify any of the facilities on the premises without the prior written approval of the BMTC.
The fuel retail outlets are likely to come up at bus depots at Jayanagar, Kathriguppe, Deepanjalinagar, Shanthinagar, Indiranagar, Subhashnagar, Peenya, Dooravani Nagar, KR Puram, Jigani, Bidadi, Chikkanagamangala, Kodathi, Anjanapur and vacant land at Kengeri, Nagarbhavi, Bettahalli, Dasanapura, Bidadi, Hancharahalli, Kannuru, Kurubarahalli, Madappanahalli Manduru, Puttenahalli and others.
Space for the other facilities like Automated Teller Machine (ATM), Public Call Office (PCO), Internet Centre, and any other commercial activities will be allowed to up to 25% of allotted area.
