China Releases Smart Vehicle Base Map Policy

Recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources of China published a guideline to build a standard system for intelligent vehicle base maps.

This policy emphasizes the standardization of cards in relation to general applications, production updates, application service, quality assurance and security management. Promoting the coordinated development of these cards and geographic information with other industries such as automotive, information and communication, electronics, transportation and information security industries is also highlighted.

The aim is to gradually build a standard system for intelligent vehicle base maps that meets the requirements of the country’s technological and industrial development.

The guideline proposes that more than ten intelligent vehicle basemap standards should be developed in advance, covering technical requirements and specifications to meet the urgent need for the deep application of intelligent vehicle basemaps.

The implementation of the standard system for intelligent vehicle base maps will be up to China 2025 support to promote autonomous driving.
