Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will be spending INR 194 crore to develop roads across six divisions of the city.
This includes INR 50 crore for constructing roads in the developing areas on the outskirts and INR 50 crore to redevelop the existing major roads in the city.
NMC has proposed the development of the roads in the budget for the next financial year,2023-24. The remaining INR 94 crore is to be spent on developing colony roads across six divisions .
The civic body has proposed redeveloping a road from old CBS to Old Gangapur Naka via Canada Corner at INR 25 crore. NMC has also proposed redeveloping a road from Garware point to Papaya Nursery via XLO point at a total cost of Rs 40 crore. This is one of the major roads in the city as it connects two industrial estates of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Ambad and Satupur.
“We have been pursuing the civic body to redevelop the major road from Garware point to Papaya Nursery for the past two years as the defect liability period of this road ended around five years ago,” said Nikhil Panchal, the president of Ambad Industries & Manufacturers’ Association (AIMA).
“It is a positive development for us that the civic body has finally proposed the redevelopment of this road in the budget” added Panchal. The road towards Nashik divisional commissionerate in Nashik Road divisions is to be redeveloped at INR 8.60 crore.
NMC has also decided to carry out the road works in new developing areas at INR 50 crore. The roads in newly developing areas on the outskirts of the city like Adgaon, Makhmalabad etc are to be developed.
