Lynk&Co has fully revealed its upcoming 08 SUV ahead of an official unveiling scheduled for 25 March.
To be launched in Shanghai, images of the 08 were shared on the firm’s social media. It is is the manufacturer’s seventh model and will be sold in China during the second half of 2023 and serves as the sibling model of the next-generation Volvo XC60. It is expected to be sold in selected markets, including Europe, from 2024.
The 08’s styling cues will influence the design language of future models from the Geely-owned brand and was previewed on the firm’s ‘The Next Day’ concept car in June 2022. The production 08 swaps that low-slung, two-door silhouette for a traditional crossover bodystyle.
It carries over the concept’s signature LED headlamps with a near-grille-less front fascia giving it away as an electrified model. Moving round to the side the door handles sit flush with the bodywork in the name of reducing drag and the wheelarches are clad in black cladding with a glossy finish.
At the rear, it features LED tail-lights that wrap around into the rear wings, with the Lynk&Co badge spread across the tailgate and is joined a sporty rear diffuser below the bumper.
As with the forthcoming XC60, the 08 is based on Geely’s CMA 2.0 platform and is expected to be available with two versions of the firm’s E-Motive hybrid system.
This is known internally under the codename DX11, and it comprises a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) in combination with an electric motor and battery of varying power and capacities.
