Peugeot expects 408X to rekindle interest in French marque

French marque Peugeot started presales of its heavyweight model 408X in China on Tuesday.

The model is expected to show Chinese customers a new Peugeot with its dynamic and fashionable French appeal, said the brand’s global CEO Linda Jackson.

Available in four variants and five colors, it is built based on the brand’s EMP2 V3 platform.

The model is designed to feature sedans’ sporty handling, SUVs’ clearance, coupes’ stylish design and hatchbacks’ luggage room.

The model sports a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and an eight-speed transmission. It has a maximum output of 129 kW and a top torque of 250 Nm.

The availability of three driving modes offers different driving experiences.

The 408X has a 2,787-mm wheelbase and measures 1,859 mm in width. Its luggage room can extend from 536 liters to 1,611 liters.

The model features a cabin with an avant-garde feel. Among other things, it has three digital displays as well as a three-dimensional high-definition dashboard. Advanced driving-assist functions are available.
