Indore & Bhopal cities have 36.5 lakh registered vehicles

Under 10 lakh voters in Madhya Pradesh do not own a vehicle-especially in Indore and Bhopal cities. As against 46 lakh registered voters in both the cities, 36.5 lakh vehicles are registered.

This fact came to light in a reply by transport minister Govind Singh Rajput in a written reply to a question by Congress MLA Congress Kunal Choudhary in MP Assembly during the recently concluded budget session.

Choudhary had asked about the number of vehicles registered in both the cities. In his reply minister Rajput stated that the total number of registered vehicles in Bhopal was 15,07,613 while the total number of vehicles registered in industrial capital Indore was 21,61,300, as on January 31, 2023.

As per the election commission, the electors as per the proposed final roll, as January 1, 2023, in Bhopal were 20,01,510 and 26,03,285 in Indore. Out of the total vehicles registered in Bhopal and Indore, majority were two-wheelers. Bhopal has a total of 10,88,556 two wheelers while Indore has 16,33,037 two-wheelers.

Total number of cars registered in Bhopal was 2,90,272 while in Indore 3,38,353 cars are registered. Indore has around 48 thousand more cars than Bhopal. Among all the different categories of vehicles registered at the transport offices of two main cities, Bhopal has more ambulances compared to Indore. There are 844 ambulances in Bhopal against 829 in Indore as per the minister’s reply.
