1X Raises $23.5M in Series A2 Funding

1X (previously named Halodi Robotics), an Oslo, Norway-based manufacturer of androids, raised $23.5M in Series A2 funding.

The round was led by OpenAI Startup Fund, with participation from Tiger Global and a consortium of Norway-based investors, including Sandwater, Alliance Ventures, and Skagerak Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to increase the efforts of building its upcoming bipedal android model, called NEO, as well as scale manufacturing of its first commercially available android EVE in Norway and North America.

Led by Bernt Øyvind Børnich, CEO and founder, 1X is an engineering and robotics company producing androids capable of human-like movements and behaviors, with practical, real-world applications to augment labor globally.

Founded in 2014, the company now has over 60 employees globally.
