GAC Honda is to export the Odyssey made at its Zengcheng plant in Guangdong province to Japan starting from the second half this year, said the Sino-Japanese joint venture on Friday.
This will mark the first time that China-made Honda vehicles will be sold in Japan. Honda is one of the largest carmakers in the Asian country.
GAC Honda said it will also export vehicles to other countries besides Japan. Its vehicles have so far been sold only in China.
The joint venture sold 741,808 vehicles in 2022 in China, down 4.93 percent year-on-year.
China shipped overseas over 3.1 million vehicles last year as the world’s No 2 vehicle exporter, with the first being Japan, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
