Startups in India, SE Asia unlikely to garner valuations of the past, says Vertex’s Mathias

Even as the outlook for venture capital (VC) investments remains positive in India and Southeast Asia, startups are unlikely to garner robust valuations as before.

“What happened in 2021 and 2022 [in terms of valuation] was insane, there’s no other way to put it,” Ben Mathias, managing partner at Vertex Ventures for Southeast Asia and India, told DealStreetAsia in an interview.
