Data Vantage: Mayhem Studios, Nhi Dong 315, Verz Design, Ryde and Clevai secure capital

Mayhem Studios, the mobile game development unit of Indian eSports unicorn Mobile Premier League (MPL), received $20 million last week from a group of investors in its Series A round.

Lead investor Sequoia Capital India contributed $11.5 million to the financing and now holds an over 16% stake in the gaming studio. Other investors in the round include Steadview Capital, which ploughed $3.5 million into the round, Truecaller ($3.1 million), Hashed ($1 million) and Moore Strategic Ventures ($300k).

According to our calculations, Mayhem Studios is valued at $70 million after the funding round.

Nhi Dong 315, a paediatric and maternity clinic operator in Vietnam, received $30 million from a unit of Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC Pte earlier this month.

The investment is part of the Vietnamese firm’s larger Series B round.

Nhi Dong 315 operates at least 60 paediatric and maternity clinics in Ho Chi Minh City. According to sources, it seeks to expand its primary care services, clinics and hospitals nationwide using the latest funding.

Singapore-based digital agency Verz Design received $2 million last week from Meetsocial, a China-based cross-border digital solutions provider. The firm said it would use the new investment to expand to China and other markets.

Ride-sharing firm Ryde received $2 million from Singapore-based family office Octava last week. The investor is the startup’s largest shareholder.

Last week, Vietnamese edtech startup Clevai received additional capital from investors, including Altara Ventures and FEBE Ventures.

Restaurant management solutions provider TabSquare received $1.3 million from parent Delivery Hero last week. This is its fourth cash infusion so far this year.

Capillary Technologies, a customer loyalty and engagement SaaS platform, received $1.27 million from a group of investors last week. Its share price was the same as its previous round of financing.

Singapore-based software integration platform optty received $1.05 million in additional funding last week, while Indonesia’s marketing and sales solutions provider Pomona secured $300k from Vynn Capital.

Singapore-based Plano, which has developed a parental control and eye health app, received a little over $1 million from Japanese pharma company Santen Pharmaceutical last week.

AcadArena, a Philippine campus gaming startup, received another capital infusion last week from South Korea’s Hashed as part of an ongoing round.
