In its effort to accelerate the ramp up of hydrogen mobility, Forvia Group company Faurecia is presenting two breakthrough hydrogen solutions – Containerized Hydrogen Storage and XL Gaseous Storage – for automotive and infrastructure in the European market at Hanover Messe 2023 (April 17-21).
The Faurecia Containerized Hydrogen Solution for storage and distribution offers world-class payload using large, lightweight tanks and modular architecture. Designed to store up to 1 ton of usable compressed hydrogen in the equivalent of a 40-feet container, this lightweight storage solution aims to drastically lower the cost and CO2 footprint of transporting hydrogen.
Yves Dumoulin, Senior Vice-President of Faurecia Hydrogen Solutions, said: “This is a great opportunity to show the maturity of our hydrogen solutions for heavy mobility. In order to leverage the full potential of hydrogen for industrial purposes, we need to maximize its efficiency, both by increasing the driving range of hydrogen powered vehicles and by lowering the cost of hydrogen distribution.”
Also on display is the Faurecia XL Gaseous storage designed to maximize driving range and comply with higher pressure needs. This 700-bar tank for truck applications brings almost 80% higher hydrogen capacity than 350 bars and provides new solutions of vehicle integration. The XL-Type IV composite tank has been developed to comply with side tank truck installation and belt mounting. This large tank solution brings the best weight performance with a ratio beyond 7% at 700 bars.
Murat Aydemir, Managing Director of Faurecia Hydrogen Solutions Germany, said: “The German hydrogen ecosystem is very active and inspiring. We are all working with the same objective: ensuring the adoption of hydrogen technology to build a better world. The team and I are looking forward to participating to Hannover Messe and to representing Faurecia at this important European fair.”
Faurecia is exhibiting alongside Symbio, the joint venture created with Michelin, that is dedicated to the design, manufacturing and market of fuel cell systems. Together, the Forvia Group and Symbio cover 75% of the hydrogen powertrain value with hydrogen storage systems and fuel cell stack systems. At the Hannover Messe 2023, Faurecia & Symbio are located in Hall 13 (Booth C53).
Faurecia has invested more than 300 million euros in R&D, manufacturing, strategic partnerships and acquisitions since 2018 and is targeting 3.5 billion euro sales (combined with Symbio) by 2030.
Forvia comprises the complementary technology and industrial strengths of Faurecia and Hella. It has over 290 industrial sites and 76 R&D centres, 157,000 people, including more than 15,000 R&D engineers across over 40 countries. Forvia comprises 6 business groups and has a strong IP portfolio of over 14,000 patents.
