Porsche India announces Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe facelift prices, deliveries to begin in July
Stuttgart, Germany-based sports-car maker, Porsche, has announced the prices of the facelifted versions of the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe, which come priced at Rs 1.36 crore and 1.42 crore, ex-showroom, respectively.
While bookings for the Cayenne facelift twins are now open, deliveries will commence from July this year.
The third-gen Porsche Cayenne has received a subtle exterior facelift with refreshed front fascia, altered tail-lamps, and relocation of the number plate housing.
The interior of the Cayenne is where the most significant changes are. The dashboard now features a triple-screen layout similar to that found on the Taycan. It gets a curved, 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster with up to seven different views, a new steering wheel, a dashboard-mounted drive selector, a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the centre and a 10.9-inch touchscreen for the passenger (available as an option).
In spite of the fact that only base models of both cars are currently available, Porsche India has also listed the E-Hybrid models on its website, although without the prices.
The base models are powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine while the upcoming E-Hybrid models will get a 25.9kWh battery capacity to produce 470hp with an electric-only range of up to 90km. An 11kW on-board charger can recharge the battery in around two-and-a-half hours.
CY2022 – a record year for Porsche India
With growing demand for luxury and performance cars in India where the top-end segment is experiencing a boom in demand after Covid, the German sports-car marque registered its best-ever sales in CY2022 – the highest ever since it started its operations in the country back in 2004.
A total of 779 cars and SUVs were sold by the German manufacturer last year, with the all-electric Taycan, with its 78 units, accounting for 10 percent of the entire sales. Porsche India registered a notable 64 percent YoY growth in CY2022, with its SUVs — Macan and Cayenne — seeing a 69 percent YoY growth.
In CY2022, sales of the Cayenne touched 399 units, making it Porsche’s top-selling model. In comparison, the Macan was the brand’s bestseller in 2021, selling 187 units, roughly 39 percent of its total sales.
Sports car sales in India have been on the rise in recent years (with Lamborghini delivering 92 units in India in 2022, registering a 30 percent yearly growth), as the country’s growing affluent population seeks to indulge in their passion for fast and luxurious automobiles.
The trend has been driven by a combination of factors, including rising disposable incomes, increased exposure to global automotive brands and designs, and a growing car culture in major metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi.
Many foreign automakers have also entered the Indian market, offering a range of sports car models that appeal to the country’s growing number of auto enthusiasts.
As a result, sports cars have become a symbol of luxury and status, and the trend is expected to continue as India’s economy continues to grow and its consumer market matures.
