In the upcoming renovation of the car manufacturer Opel the fronts are hardening between management and employees. Because of the resistance of IG Metall, the executive committee of the parent company PSA has suspended the planned investment decision for the Eisenach assembly plant, as company boss Michael Lohscheller told the workforce on Monday.

The investment has not yet been given the green light because the negotiations with the social partners have not yet led to an agreement, he wrote OpelBoss to his staff. On Monday, politics had also interfered in the dispute – and Opel parent PSA warned to comply with all commitments,

On Friday negotiations with the IG Metall and works council had been interrupted. In vain Opel had the Deferment of the tariff increase scheduled for April and the removal of super-tariff allowances. Only then should the construction of an electrifiable off-road vehicle in the Eisenach plant be promised from the first half of 2019.

According to Lohscheller, Opel is sticking to the plan to invest in all German locations. The negotiations continued, with no time to lose.
