Mumbai: Tata Motors, one of India’s leading players in the commercial and personal mobility solutions space, announced today that it continued to accelerate its drive towards engineering excellence and innovation by filing an extensive number of IPRs in FY23. These filings include 158 Patents and 79 Designs, resulting in the highest cumulative number of patents filed in the country by an Indian OEM manufacturing commercial vehicles and passenger cars. The company also received a grant of 71 patents during the fiscal.
The filed patents are spread across a broad spectrum of product as well as process innovations and developments across megatrends of CESS-related (connected, electrified, sustainable and safe) technologies. The company also entails various vehicle systems like powertrain, body & trim, suspension, emission control amongst others.
With a holistic approach to sustainability over the past few years, the company has been successfully developing state of the art technologies, practices and processes to benefit its end consumers while consistently raising the bar for the automotive industry. Its purposeful focus on research and innovation has resulted in the introduction of more efficient, greener, safer, smarter vehicles and concepts which have been designed to transform the mobility of people and goods.

These include the Asia IP Elite 2022 Award at Intellectual Property Business Congress (IPBC) Asia, Tokyo, The IP Excellence Awards for Top Patent driven Industry by ASSOCHAM, the Best Patents Portfolio award by CII and the IP Excellence Award by Questel.
