ACI: over 270 million euros for the related activities of the F1 GP at Imola

More than 270 million euros. This is the overall turnover that an event like the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna – sixth round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, scheduled from 19 to 21 May at the Autodromo International “Enzo and Dino Ferrari” of Imola – is able to generate.

According to a study conducted by JFC – a marketing and tourism economics studies company – in fact, the 2022 world championship event, held in Imola, generated an economic benefit – direct and indirect – of 274 million and 167 thousand euros. Over 30 million euros, the direct benefits, i.e. the economic values ​​released on the territory by all those who participated in the event. 22 million and 700 thousand euros, on the other hand, for indirect benefits, activated to meet the needs of goods and services for the organization of the event and local services of various kinds.

13 million euros, the induced benefits, i.e. the value that the event is able to produce on employment levels and on the increase in consumption in the local area.

Other values ​​are those generated on the supply chain and on the enhancement of the Imola brand as well as the average ADV value: long-term benefits, quantified, respectively, at 36 and 172 million euros.

The 2022 edition recorded 129,656 spectators, mostly males (79.9%) aged between 50 and 59 (27.2%), 33.3% who came with their families and, in 67.4 % of cases, with own car. Of these, as many as 75.3% had declared that they wanted to return to Imola for the 2023 edition as well. The data referring to those who stayed in the area for the event is also extremely interesting: including spectators, technicians, teams , etc. a total of 42,614 tourists were registered (of which 67.4% were foreigners), for an average stay of 4.3 nights.

The 2022 edition was seen by 82.2 million people: 23.3 million watched the race live, 150.5 million watched at least some videos regarding the competition, 45 million were intrigued by the material disseminated on social networks. In Italy, the GP was the most watched program on that Sunday, with 4.7 million viewers.

The Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna 2023 edition will start on Friday 19 May with two free practice sessions from 13.30 to 14.30 and from 17 to 18; on Saturday the third free practice session from 12.30 to 13.30 which will be followed by qualifying from 16 to 17. On Sunday the start of the GP is scheduled for 15. The race will be held over 63 laps of the Imola track (4,909 metres) for a total of 309.049 km. In addition to F.1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 will be on the track.
