ARAI seminar on Hydrogen to focus on green fuels’ role as a carbon neutral fuel for internal combustion engines

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has organised a one-day seminar on Hydrogen as a Carbon Neutral Fuel for internal combustion engines (ICE) at its Kothrud campus in Pune.

The Seminar which will see industry technology heads coming together were graced by Aniruddha Ganesh Chief Technical Advisor and Director ·Cummins Technologies as the Chief Guest and presided over by Reji Mathai Director · Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)

Dr. S. S. Thipse, Sr. Deputy Director and HoD, Powertrain Engineering at ARAI shared his thoughts on the seminar and said that ARAI is gearing up for infrastructure upgrade for certification of Hydrogen ICE engine and fuel cell vehicles. “This will enable the process of certification of vehicles to ensure their safety and emission compliance in the field“, said Thipse.

ARAI is closely working with the auto industry to provide development support for hydrogen vehicles by way of component and engine testing, R&D projects, and consultancy as well as establishing the hydrogen cylinder testing facility in its greenfield project at Takwe. ARAI through the Technovus platform is also encouraging startups in the hydrogen energy space.

Sharing his insights into the hydrogen economy, Thipse added, “generation of awareness among stakeholders about different facets of implementation of the hydrogen program in India is the need of the hour. Towards this objective, ARAI has arranged a one-day seminar on the use of hydrogen fuel for ICE application.”

The Seminar will focus on various burning issues related to hydrogen including hydrogen standards and regulations, H2 engine development, fuel system components as well as fueling infrastructure. Furthermore, the other topics that will be highlighted include Hydrogen for stationary power generation, Virtual development for Hydrogen engines, Hydrogen safety and its handling, and Hydrogen policy and economics

Some of the other eminent speakers participated in the day-long seminar. Krishnan Sadagopan, Senior VP, Ashok Leyland& Independent Director will be focusing on Hydrogen as a Fuel for I C Engines -. Alok Sharma, Executive Director, CHT will be sharing the road map for various facets of hydrogen, status, and challenges. The seminar will also be seeing K U Ravindra, Vice President, Engineering, Bosch will be sharing his insights on developing Fuel System H2 engines. Abhijit Phadke, Director, Lab and Test Operations, Cummins Tech Centre India will be sharing his perspective on Powering the Future of Hydrogen Adoption with Simulation.
