In a 2022 Forbes Wheels survey, 43% of the 500 US EV driver respondents reported they had encountered broken public charging stations. The CEO of ChargerHelp! Kameale Terry, a national EV charger maintenance provider, estimates that up to 32% of public U.S. EV chargers are out of operation at any given time, with these outages going largely undetected by Charge Point Operators (CPOs) until a technician is physically present.
