The Patna high court on Friday directed the state’s transport secretary to file reply on the points raised in a writ petition challenging the department’s decision to ban the plying of commercial vehicles more than 15 years old in the municipal limits of Patna district.
A single bench of Justice Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, while hearing the writ petition of one Sunita Devi, directed the transport secretary to file reply within a week, failing which he has to appear personally before the court.
The petitioner has questioned the legality of government order of November 6, 2019 whereby the plying of 15 years old commercial vehicles was banned with immediate effect in urban areas of Patna Municipal Corporation, Danapur, Khagaul and Phulwarisharif town area in the interest of public safety and freedom.
This matter will be heard further on May 18.
