The car manufacturer Volkswagen is preparing a far-reaching restructuring of its core brand. Volkswagen’s processes are to become faster, the model range to be streamlined and savings to be made at all levels, as the Handelsblatt learned from corporate circles. There is a package in the room with which the annual results are to be increased by at least three billion euros. But it could also be significantly more, according to corporate circles.
Thomas Schäfer is in charge of the renovation. The VW brand board is to develop a new concept for the coming years, which also includes a realignment of the model range.
It’s not about the reduction of employees, it was said in the circles. “That’s not the goal.” Ultimately, however, the number of jobs is likely to fall, also because e-cars are less complex to build. However, this would involve partial retirement and non-replacement of positions.
