Nelson Medallia Superbike Saturday’s Superbike warm up practice saw cooler temperatures and a severe degradation of tire life from all competing manufacturers. Due to this, a weather forecast of cool temps and a chance of rain, the race was shortened from 20 laps to 16 after a joint decision by MotoAmerica and Dunlop was made for the safety of the competitors. Cameron Beaubier started in 5th position, in the middle of the second row on his No. 6 BMW M 1000 RR. The Tytlers Cycle Racing team decided to use a hard compound rear tire on Beaubier’s M 1000 RR in hopes it would show less degradation as the race went on.  Unfortunately, the race conditions and temperatures improved dramatically with the track warming up and temperatures soaring. On lap five, Beaubier was able to move into 4th place but was unable to further close the gap to the leading Yamaha riders. His teammate, PJ Jacobsen, on the No. 99 BMW M 1000 RR, followed right behind, moving into 6th position on lap six and into 5th overall position on lap nine. Top 10 BMW M 1000 RR finishers included Ashton Yates of Aftercare Scheibe Racing in 8th position, and Corey Alexander of Tytlers Cycle Racing in 9th position. Sunday’s, Superbike Race 2, ran the full 20-lap distance under great conditions and Cameron Beaubier’s No 6 BMW M 1000 RR was equipped with a softer compound rear tire, which appeared to offer increased pace to the Tytlers Cycle Racing rider. PJ Jacobsen and Cameron Beaubier started the race side by side from row 2. By lap 2, Beaubier had moved to 3rd with Jacobsen following in 6th. Both riders fought hard for their positions and finished the race with Beaubier on the podium, in 3rd and Jacobsen in 5th. Corey Alexander, on the No 23 Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR crossed the finish line in 7th with Ashton Yates of Aftercare Scheibe Racing in 8th. Stock 1000 Saturday’s Stock 1000 Race 1 saw continued excellent results by BMW M 1000 RR riders with Ezra Beaubier and Kaleb de Keyrel, both with Orange Cat Racing, finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. BMW riders in fact, held six of the top ten finishing positions when the checkered flag flown, with Travis Wyman of Travis Wyman Racing finishing in 4th, Nolan Lamkin of Tom Wood Powersports finishing in 5th, Taylor Knapp of Taylor Knapp Racing finishing in 6th and Jason Waters of Edge Racing finishing in 8th. In Sunday’s Stock 1000 Race 2, Kaleb de Keyrel and Orange Cat Racing teammate Ezra Beaubier swapped podium spots with de Keyrel finishing in 2nd and Beaubier finishing in 3rd.
