Waymo partners with Uber

Waymo and Uber are collaborating to bring Waymo’s autonomous vehicle technology to the Uber platform.

The two companies Waymo and Uber yesterday announced a new strategic partnership to bring the Waymo Driver to a wider audience in Phoenix via the Uber platform, effective immediately. The cooperation was agreed for several years. That’s interesting against the background of earlier friction.

Both companies were founded in 2009, Waymo from Google and Uber as a startup, and both are dedicated to driving. Actually, the driving service Uber also wanted to develop autonomous driving, which is why Google recruited Anthony Landowski, who brought a lidar construction from Waymo with him. It came to process, the Uber and Levandowski lost.

Last agreed Above long-term cooperation with Motional. This cooperation now involves Phoenix with local deliveries and driving services. Waymo also makes food deliveries in this way.
