Ford has announced a new agreement with Tesla, through which the EV-focused OEM will provide Ford’s customers with access to its network of EV Superchargers across North America, from Spring 2024.
A Tesla-developed adapter will enable the OEM’s F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit models with the Combined Charging System (CCS) port to access Tesla’s V3 Superchargers. While integrating these EVs into the Supercharger Network, Ford also announced its plans to equip future EVs, beginning in 2025, with the NACS charge port. Doing so will remove the need for its customers to use an adapter to gain direct access to Tesla’s Superchargers.
Through the partnership, Ford customers will now have access to both Tesla’s network and the OEM’s own BlueOval Charge Network, which offers more than 84,000 chargers, including access to over 10,000 public DC fast-chargers. The network ultimately aims to reduce charge anxiety, with automatic routing to the nearest charger offered alongside seamless billing through the FordPass feature.
