Prenetics names Fave’s ex-CEO Joel Neoh as MD of consumer health unit

Joel Neoh, founder and ex-CEO of SE Asian fintech platform Fave, has joined Hong Kong-based Prenetics Global Limited to head up its consumer health business CircleDNA as managing director, according to a statement.

Neoh stepped down from his role as CEO of Fave in March this year. Fave, a platform backed by Sequoia Capital, was acquired by Pine Labs in 2021 in a $45-million deal.

In his role at Prenetics, Neoh will also be taking on the role of chief consumer officer of the group to further expand CircleDNA into a leading consumer preventive healthcare platform.

His appointment comes as Prenetics is forging ahead to reinvent the preventive healthcare landscape by focusing on consumer health and genetics, breakthrough technology for early cancer detection, and targeted therapy for cancer treatment.

CircleDNA claims to offer the world’s most comprehensive consumer DNA test. Every month, thousands of consumers in over 30 countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines use CircleDNA to gain insights into their health through a simple saliva sample, it said in the statement.

Nasdaq-listed Prenetics was founded in 2014 as a DNA testing laboratory. In the fight against COVID-19, Prenetics became a household name in Hong Kong and the UK, processing more than 28 million PCR and at-home test kits. Prenetics was listed on the NASDAQ last year. As of March 31, 2023, Prenetics holds $224.1 million in cash and other short-term assets.

Joel Neoh is a serial entrepreneur and technology executive with over 15 years of leadership and board experience. His experience in consumer technology spans sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, digital media, and health & wellness. Neoh has been instrumental in accelerating digital payments and financial services for millions of consumers and merchants.

Previously, he was the founder of GroupsMore, which was acquired by Groupon. While at Groupon, Neoh headed up its Asia Pacific business, overseeing more than 2,000 employees.
