BYD launches fifth sub-brand Fangchengbao

Electric vehicle carmaker BYD has officially announced a new sub-brand – Fang Cheng Bao. As the fifth generation of BYD’s brand matrix, the new sub-brand aims to “offer a series of unique, professional-grade new energy vehicle models to meet the increasingly personalised needs of consumers.”

Fang Chung Bao joins BYD’s brand matrix following the Dynasty series, Ocean series, Denza and Yangwang. Fangchengbao’s vehicle line-up ranges from off-road vehicles to sports cars, and an early model, codenamed SF Hardcore SUV, will be released this year.

Translated from Chinese, the brand name Fangchengbao literally means ‘Formula’ and ‘Leopard’, symbolising the pursuit of transformative rise and exploration of the digital realm. 

“Many people think of the global e-mobility transition as a revolution in the automotive industry where vehicles powered by fossil fuels are being replaced by electric vehicles. However, BYD believes that this is only a small part of the overall transition and that a larger area is unfolding,” said BYD chairman and president Wang Chuanfu.
