New Delhi: Nissan Motor Co said today that Ashwani Gupta, the firm’s Representative Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, has decided to depart the business to seek other opportunities, starting June 27. Gupta will also leave the board of directors after the conclusion of the annual general meeting of shareholders on June 27, 2023, according to media reports.
Gupta, who has been Nissan’s COO since December 2019, has been important in the conception and implementation of the Nissan NEXT transformation strategy, which focuses on laying the groundwork for Nissan’s future success.
He has also held major leadership positions and been a driving force in other Alliance initiatives throughout the years, resulting in numerous accomplishments.
Ashwani Gupta was born in Dehradun, India, and graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College in India, as well as INSEAD Business School in France. He began his career in the private sector in 1992 in engineering and buying before moving to executive positions with Honda India and Japan in 1996.
He began his career with Renault in 2006 as the general manager of buying at Renault India in Mumbai. He joined the Renault Nissan Purchasing Organisation in France in 2008 as the worldwide supplier account manager for brake systems. In 2009, he joined Renault Nissan B.V. as deputy general manager, worldwide purchasing. Gupta was named worldwide programme director for Datsun vehicles at Nissan Motor Co in Japan in 2011, where he oversaw product development for launches in India, Russia, Indonesia, and South Africa. Since 2014, he has served as vice president of Renault’s Light Commercial Vehicle Division, where he supervises the automaker’s global LCV business.
Gupta was designated Alliance Senior Vice President of the Renault-Nissan LCV Business on April 1, 2017, and then Alliance Senior Vice President of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi LCV Business in April 2018.
