Cadillac will unveil the first electric version of its signature vehicle, the Escalade large SUV, in New York City on Aug. 9.
Called the Escalade IQ, it’s likely to go on sale next year as a 2025. The model line will include a long-wheelbase version, possibly called the Escalade IQL.
Cadillac plans to build the Escalade IQ in its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.
The Escalade IQ is one of three new EVs Cadillac plans to unveil this year. Analysts suspect the others will be an XT6- size three-row SUV to compete with vehicles like the Volvo EV90 and a compact the size of the gasoline-powered XT4.
Cadillac desperately needs to accelerate its promised reinvention as an electric luxury brand. The brand’s first EV, the Lyriq midsize SUV debuted to wide praise last year, but unidentified issues hamstrung its launch. Cadillac delivered just 122 Lyriqs in 2022 and 968 in the first quarter of 2023.
Cadillac plans to begin sales of the hand-made, bespoke Celestiq ultra-luxury grand tourer this year. Prices will start around $300,000.
